How much does a home renovation cost on the Garden Route?

How long does a home renovation take?
A bathroom renovation typically takes two to four weeks. A kitchen renovation can take three to six weeks. A full home renovation may take several months depending on scope.
Do I need to move out during a renovation?
For a single-room renovation such as a kitchen or bathroom, most clients remain in the property. For a full home renovation, moving out temporarily is usually more practical. Pierre will advise honestly based on your specific project.
Do you handle all trades, or do I need to hire electricians and plumbers separately?
Mr. Snag Man manages the full project, including coordinating with trusted electricians and plumbers. You deal with one point of contact — Pierre.
Can you renovate my holiday home if I'm not based on the Garden Route?
Yes. Mr. Snag Man regularly works with non-resident property owners. Pierre provides detailed progress updates and photo documentation throughout the project.

What is involved in building a new home on the Garden Route?
Site preparation, foundation work, structural construction, roofing, all internal finishes, and connection to municipal services. Mr. Snag Man manages the full process — from initial planning through to final handover.
Do I need an architect before approaching Mr. Snag Man?
For a new build, approved architectural plans are required before construction can begin. Pierre can advise on the planning process and work alongside your chosen architect, or recommend professionals he has worked with.
What does NHBRC registration mean for my new build?
The NHBRC is a statutory body regulating home builders in South Africa. All new residential builds must be registered with the NHBRC. Registration provides consumer protection and ensures builders meet minimum quality standards.

What is a snag list?
A detailed record of defects, incomplete work, or items that do not meet the agreed specification in a newly completed building. It is produced before handover so the builder is obligated to rectify the issues before you take ownership.
When should I get a snag list done?
Before you accept handover of a new build or newly completed renovation — before you sign off, before you move in, and before the contractor’s liability window closes.
Can I use Mr. Snag Man for a snag list if they didn't build the property?
Yes. Mr. Snag Man’s snag list service is completely independent. Pierre will inspect any newly completed property regardless of who built it, and produce a detailed report.
What does a snag list inspection cover?
Structural integrity, waterproofing, roofing, external finishes, internal finishes (walls, ceilings, floors), joinery, plumbing, electrical, and general quality of workmanship. Written report provided.
How long does a snag list inspection take?
A typical newly completed home takes between two and four hours to inspect thoroughly. The written report is delivered within 24–48 hours.
